Service information:
Since I have been operating in North Queensland I have been using a variety of Freight companies. I have looked for a combination of sensible rates and convenience and above all care and reliability in delivering your amplifier to and from our facility.
Australia Post has been very convenient not only for sensible rates but also as they provide a payment on delivery service - that is - you can send your amplifier to us and have it repaired/upgraded and pay for the freight and the service when you collect your amplifier. This service is called Cash to Collect and is part of a sophisticated new service Australia Post have initiated recently called e-parcel. Click this link to track your “e-parcel” delivery.
For heavier amplifiers such as ME 750 and ME 850s I have been suggesting Bus freight - Greyhound Freight Services - You may obtain quotations from their web page however a maximum weight of 25Kgs is stated and a phone call to your local (closest) depot will generally allow the weight of an ME 850 (33-38Kgs). Several have been shipped this way so far.
I am still looking into companies who would fulfill my criteria for larger amplifiers (ME 1000-1500) and will update this page when one is found.
Packaging - For those who do not have original packaging for your amplifier - my suggestion is to visit your local electrical retailer such as Harvey Norman, Retravision etc and ask them if you could get a discarded packing box. It seems that when an electrical appliance is installed by the store often the customer does not wish to keep the packaging and the installer brings it back to the store to be placed in a dumpster and collected weekly for recycling - for pre amplifiers CD or DVD player cartons are often the correct size, for ME 550’s Home Theatre Receivers are good, and if needing packaging for ME 750’s etc you might need to look at Microwave ovens and other heavier appliances. Using one box inside another is a good way to provide better protection.
