ME Update
December 2006
Service since August 2006 has generally been consistent with the occassional glitch as I have found the need to delve into a container of cartons looking for parts or specialised test equipment to complete specific repairs or upgrades. While my new facilities are not yet completed, with much stock still in storage boxes, turnaround times are improving weekly. The recent web problem mentioned on the introduction page will be solved as soon as you read this - we are using a new web host - www.webcity.com.au
I did a little research on well priced and capable providers and I think you could do a lot worse than giving these guys a try.
JUNE 2006
Sale of ME Factory and Residence
The ME premises have been sold, and I am currently packing all that is to be moved up to the new premises in Far North Queensland (Cairns region), and to sort out the items to be Auctioned on the 24th of June on the Dyers Crossing Premises. There will not be any Hi Fi products in this auction - these items were sold in a previous auction in 2003. Service during June and July will be delayed, however Contacting me by email will be the best option. The new Telephone no. in QLD is 07 4093 9886. I will not be there physically until the end of June , but messages could be left and I will attempt to retrieve them - indistinct messages are often too difficult to retrieve remotely - hence email is the best option.
Please see updated address details in the contact tab

JANUARY 2005
Small Steps
Peter Stein
Since the close down of ME Sound Pty Ltd late 2003, my priority has been to continue to support those people who own ME Amplifiers or have purchased products from ME Technologies. Over the year I have been primarily repairing ME amplifiers and performing minor upgrades. This continues to be my plan for the immediate future..
I am preparing to move to Far North Queensland. There will be times when delays in performing the above will be inevitable; however contacting me by email will ensure the least inconvenience.
I would like to thank the many people that have been very supportive and encouraging to the re birth of ME Sound, and perhaps more surprising is that much of this support has been from non ME owners.
While plans do change, my current thinking is to make small progressive steps towards a different business structure. My experiences over, the last 30 years of running ME Sound, have taught me something of what does not work(…slow learner!). I expect the new business to be leaner and more focused on what I do best. The small business environment has changed significantly since I started ME Sound, some of which I mentioned in my close down letter. It often takes a major upheaval to re evaluate and restructure ones path in life and business, and my natural persistent (..read stubborn) personality has been released to reassess and rebirth a new business model.
A partial list of potential future ME projects, in no special order:
- An email mailing list: To provide efficient and timely advice to those interested in ME news/progress as it happens, rather than checking the web site for news.
- A classified section on the ME web site: To give ME owners and purchasers a place to buy or sell pre owned ME products. If there is interest this could be expanded to include a forum where ME subjects can be discussed amongst ME users and interested people. This could be helpful to reduce the ME discussions on the “aus.hifi” newsgroup, which has not been appreciated by some.
- Development of new upgrades to ME products
- Manufacture of smaller ME products: for example the ME RIAA
- A partnership arrangement to manufacture the more popular ME products: This will include changes in aesthetics and where and how the products are assembled and tested. The first product in the early planning stages is the ME 550 (series III), and other products may be added according to demand and success of the first.
- Manufacture of larger ME products: I would like to be able to make the ME 850 – 1500 style products myself in smaller quantities. I envisage 2 new Power Amplifiers to replace the older models.
